Our project The Orange Lilies was present at Brighton’s Armed Forces Day event this week on Saturday 25th June. The event, organised by Brighton and Hove Council hosted different projects including the Royal Sussex Regiment, British Legion and Brighton Black History‘s exhibit on WWI Indian Soldiers.
It was a useful way to discuss the project with potential partners and spend some time with our Royal Sussex military advisor Rodney Patterson (top right) too. We found a soldier from Brighton (Lt Eric Archibald McNair) who was killed at The Somme through the Royal Sussex’ exhibition boards which was fascinating to discover. More to follow on this.
We enjoyed some performances from Max Miller impersonators, and a trip of singers alongside vintage music as well as live poetry and spoken word introduced by Brighton Black History’s Davinder Dhillon.
